Ok, so some of you have heard this already, but it was so odd I just had to post it!
My job this year was to hand out candy – should be easy, right?
So, I’m in the middle of applying all the green makeup, when my first “customers” arrive. A pair of 12 year old girls are at the door waiting for the goods. I grab a few pieces of candy & I ended up giving one girl two pieces and the other one piece. It wasn’t intentional – just happened.
I say, “Happy Halloween!,” close the door & return to the green stuff.
What happened next, blew my mind:
I kid you not, the girl who only got one piece, OPENED MY DOOR, stuck her head in & said, “Excuse me, she got two & I only got one.”
let’s just let that sink in for a moment…
Oh, I could go so many directions here. But, I’m going to be kind…
Anyway, I think I said, “what?” She told me that she’s stubborn & wanted her other piece of candy.
So, the little darling got her extra piece of candy & even another “Happy Halloween.” (notice – no exclamation point this time)
Seriously, the kid opened my door…
I’m still shaking my head!
What a reminder to be teaching our children to be grateful for EVERYTHING they receive. I was just reading the passage from the One-year Bible today and that is what struck me. God gives us EVERYTHING. He deserves and desires our acknowledgement and thanks for all that HE gives. We teach by living it in our own lives. Kind of goes along with your last post and this Thanksgiving season. Rod and I have talked about the fact that we want our family to be a grateful family.
