Blog Tag

So, one of my favorite ladies, Nora, tagged me in a game of blog tag!  I love games!!!

I get to share with you 5 ways that blogging has affected me.  Now, since I tend to lean more on the positive side, :)

here are a few of my favorite highlights.

1.  Connection, connection, connection! Blogging helps me stay in touch with family & friends who I don’t get to see every day.  They get little glimpses of our life (okay, well maybe more than a glimpse…).  They also get to share their thoughts on anything posted, so we get conversations going.

2.  Sharing.  I get to share lots of things important to me.  One of the reasons I started my blog was to share my faith.  I appreciate this opportunity so much.  I get to share my thoughts & the things I find encouraging or inspiring, as well as my struggles and challenges.

3.  Learning to be “techie.“  All of a sudden, I’m uploading pictures & posting them.  Yeah!  Posting video has been one of my favorites.  I figured out how to transfer video from our camera into a video software program we have, then upload it to “youtube,” & finally link it to my blog.  It really reinforces for me the idea that some of the limitations I think I have are the ones I create & place on myself.  I never would have dreamed that I’d do anything techie, so this has been a huge paradigm shift for me!

4.  It’s a writing outlet for me.  English & History were two of my favorite subjects in school.  I especially loved writing.  And now I get the chance to tap into that love again.  Extra bonus…I get to write about people & things I care about & are central in my life!

5.  Friendships.  I really appreciate the opportunity for friendships to grow here.  I have met people through this blog, friends like Angela, & I think that’s awesome!  Also, I know some friendships didn’t really start to deepen until our blogging interaction began.  One person who comes to mind in particular is Missy.  I know her so much better now & I’m grateful for that!  Friends are important.  Life is so much sweeter when we get to live it with each other.

Okay, there’s my five.  Now I get the privilege of tagging a few more people.  I’m going with Erik and Angela.  Have fun!

Here are the rules.

1. Write about 5 specific ways blogging has affected you, either positively or negatively.

2. Link back to the person who tagged you.

3. Link back to L.L. Barkat who created the meme. (He is not so much interested in generating links, but rather in tracking the meme so she can perhaps do a summary post later on that looks at patterns and interesting discoveries.)

4. Tag a few friends or five, or none at all

5. Post these rules — or just have fun breaking them.

I really liked number 3. That thought about limitations. And that we are sometimes our own biggest barriers.

Friends through blogging! Of course I liked that one too.
