This has been Garrett’s name for Ava since he was a baby. I’m not quite sure why he chose this name. It couldn’t have had anything to do with the fact that “mine” was her favorite word, could it?
We would always hear things like:
“Good morning, Mine!”
“Mine, where are you?”
and the classic…
“Mine, bad boy, you!” (This is what Garrett says when he gets upset with you. Seriously, try keeping a straight face while your son is yelling, “No Mommy, bad boy, you!”)
Out of the clear blue this week, he just started saying, “Ava.”
No prompting, no correcting…nothing. He pronounces it EE-va, as opposed to A-va, which is cute.
I will admit, I do miss the pet name – I found it sweet & it always made me chuckle.
Now, if we can just work on Ava…
She & I are currently having a debate over my middle name. For the record, my middle name is “Christine.” My little girl, however, is convinced that it is something else & she gets quite heated about it!
She thinks it’s “Steve.”
